Therapeutic Services

Members of today's ever-changing society are confronted by multiple challenges at various stages of life. Understanding and appreciating individual differences, I work with clients to integrate a treatment plan that may help to best meet their unique mental health needs. I generally suggest interventions from a cognitive-behavioral and interpersonal perspective, educating clients on strategies for modifying thoughts and behaviors in a way that may optimize personal successes and help to remove barriers to progress. Nevertheless, I am flexible in my orientation and am a firm advocate regarding the importance of rapport and establishing a secure environment for facilitating progress. I will work with the client to determine what style may be most helpful and emphasize communication along the way regarding the progress we are making. Afterall, therapy is a place where one learns about onesself individually and in relation to others, and learning often begins with sharing. I frequently ask that clients complete assignments between sessions and rehearse skills that we discuss together to help integrate progresses in treatment to everyday life. Motivation and commitment are the keys to success, and I hope that together we can help you achieve success in the areas of your life that are most meaningful to you.

Once upon a time, there was a stigma against therapy. There was an assumption that only certain types of individuals go to see therapists. Times have changed! In fact, anyone can benefit from therapy. I encourage you to consider therapy as a wonderful opportunity where you may explore your thoughts, interests, commitments, and goals in a place that is safe and dedicated to you. Imagine that you may develop skills you never knew you wanted/needed for success, to monitor your progress in important areas of your life, to recognize roadblocks as or before they arise, and to implement an action plan toward success in a setting that fosters accountability and self-awareness.

Therapy is a sign not of weakness but of strength: strength to rise above fear, doubt, and adversity; strength to ask for help; and strength to confront one's potential blindspots, to develop oneself, and to learn to conquer obstacles along life's path. I hope to see you there...
